...according to Amazon Presenter at Cloud Expo.
"Cloud computing radically alters our thinking about IT," says Steve Riley. "Public cloud service providers offer several benefits over in-house data centers, including so-called "private" clouds. Scarcity evaporates as on-demand resources appear infinite, servers morph into disposable horsepower, and backups lose their fragility."
"Eliminating the need to own information processing assets

1. A consultant may be hired because of his or her expertise. This is where it pays to not only be really good in the field you have chosen to consult in, but to have some type of track record that speaks for itself. For example, when I mentioned earlier that I had become an expert as a fund-raising consultant, I knew that every client who hired me was doing so partly on the basis of my track record alone. After all, if you are a nonprofit organization that needs to raise $1 million, it makes se…

We came across an excellent article on RecruitTech - a great Australian Conference Group focussed on Recruitment, Technology and People:
All the new technology in the world will not replace the critical element of personal contact in the recruitment process, says recruitment trainer Ross Clennett.

Cloud computing is all the rage. "It's become the phrase du jour," says Gartner senior analyst Ben Pring, echoing many of his peers.
The problem is that (as with Web 2.0) everyone seems to have a different definition.
As a metaphor for the Internet, "the cloud" is a familiar cliché, but when combined with "computing," the meaning gets bigger and fuzzier. Some analysts and vendors define cloud computing narrowly as an updated version of utility computing: basically virtua

Gartner, Inc. analysts have highlighted the top 10 technologies and trends that will be strategic for most organizations in 2010.
Gartner defines a strategic technology as one with the potential for significant impact on businesses in the next three years. Factors that denote significant impact include a high potential for disruption to IT or the business, the need for a major investment, or the risk of being late to adopt.
These technologies impact the organisation's long-term plans, p…

70% of projects fail due to poor project management, and poor requirements gathering.
If you are about to start a project within your Recruitment company, then there are 5 Golden Rules that will help you deliver your project successfully.
Rule 1: Time Management is Critical
To deliver your project on time, you need to manage time carefully. To do this, make sure every task is listed in a Project Plan and that they are scheduled to occur precisely when they need to.

Tate, specialists in office recruitment, surveyed 400 people revealing that 70 per cent of jobseekers would always rely on recruitment agencies when applying for a job.
This is despite Facebook having more than 300 million active users and LinkedIn recently celebrating its 45th million member.
However, 30 per cent of the sample surveyed by Tate would not solely rely on an agency for employment, suggesting that other platforms such as Facebook or LinkedIn would be used.
The above highlights…

Recruiting is all about the ability to communicate and share information with potential candidates and clients directly. In today's technology-centric world, recruiters have numerous channels they can use to communicate directly with candidates ranging from face-to-face visits to video chat.
However, the one tool that provides a “single point of contact” allowing the use of e…

Over the last couple of weeks we have noticed many Recruitment Software Companies announcing increases in revenue.
Whilst this is great news for the industry as a whole, we did a little research into the companies making such announcements. What we found backed up our thinking in terms of the future - Cloud Computing and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS).
We have been talking about Cloud Computing and SaaS on numerous discussions, blogs and communities, however the acceptance of SaaS based s…

There has been a lot of talk recently about Recruitment Technology, pros/cons, and how to make it more effective.
One area that we need to consider is Recruiter Mobilisation. What is this? - I hear you ask.
The term Workforce Mobilisation has been around for a while and has increasingly become a priority for organisations over the past few years. Originally, it primarily referred to providing your employees with mobile phones followed by access to corporate email and calendars.
Today, t…

Ah yes, the raging internal debate continues: Which do you implement first, the front office to manage your candidates, clients, jobs and placements, or the back office to manage your payroll, billing and financials?
It is a debate we have heard many times between Recruiters and Payroll Administrators, between Operations Directors and Finance Directors, even between CEOs and CFOs!
The answer is simple:
FRONT OFFICE. And here is the justification to what we believe is best practic…

The reason for this is simple:

Listening to
Bill Boorman's Radio show today got me thinking about the impact of new Recruitment Database implementations on the Candidate experience.
During the many Recruitment Database / Front office automation implementations we have performed, we come across many questions relating to best methods to attract candidates.
In particular, recruitment leaders often ask us whether it is worth creating 'Dummy Jobs' on jobboa…

In talking with our clients with regards to what they require from a new Front Office Recruitment Solution, many talk about the ability to send Text Messages/SMS, or configurable workflow, or perhaps integration with external websites/jobboards.
However, as technology and internet culture evolves, so should the corresponding RFPs for the software.
Here are just a few questions that we now ALWAYS talk about when producing RFPs:
Question 1: How is your system optimised for search engi…
